O ye who believe! follow not Satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of Satan, he will (but) command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things). (24:21)
sexually transmitted disease (STDs) is one which generally spread through sexual contact. most of the diseases were initiated by virulent viruses and bacteria. Most infections have no cure. i had my medsci142 lab on reproductive system just yesterday. one word: overwhelming. we studied a number of sexually transmitted diseases and we were displayed gruesome, horrible, and shocking pictures of the effects of STDs. there was only one thing going through my mind. it was like seeing Allah's wrath on these people for committing shameful and sinful acts (zina).
these are the consequences for those who 'sleep around' with random partners whom backgrounds they don't know of. in addition, they are not the only ones affected. the child they bear in their wombs would also be likely to get infected. Allah is Most Merciful for providing us, Muslims guidelines and rules in order to protect us from these awful diseases.
Surah al-Mukminun:
1. The believers must (eventually) win through,-
2. Those who humble themselves in their prayers;
3. Who avoid vain talk;
4. Who are active in deeds of charity;
5. Who abstain from sex,
6. Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,
7. But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors
Here are some examples of common STDs. you could google for the pictures of them if you're interested.
STD 1:
Genital warts
this disease is initiated by a virus called Human papillomavirus (HPV). Patients with this condition develop visible warts around their genital areas. the infected body regions are highly contagious and could spread via oral, genital or anal sex. for females, there is a high chance of being diagnosed with cancer for cervix, vagina and anus.
STD 2:
Genital herpes
Type II herpes simplex virus causes breakout of blisters around genital areas. For females, the blisters could reach as high up in the vagina. the blisters could disappear for quite some time, but the virus remains in the body. there is no cure to this STD. type I herpes simplex caused cold sores around the mouth.
STD 3:
Gonorrhea

it is initiated by the bacteria neisseria gonorrhoeae. this disease is being spread through fluids or discharges from the infected site. if there was oral-genital contact, the mouth and throat could be infected as well. infection at genital areas could result in inflammation of the vagina and uterus for women, and the males would acquire urethritis. Worse, gonorrhea could result in infertility as the uterine tubes could be blocked by the scar tissue formation. if the patient did get pregnant, the newborn might get affected as well, after delivery. if the bacteria happened to get into the eyes of a newborn, the consequence is blindness.
Women impure are for men impure, and men impure for women impure and women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity: these are not affected by what people say: for them there is forgiveness, and a provision honourable (24:26)
